The design of the valve cover on these engines lessens the importance of needing to torque the bolts or go in a certain order. The bolts on the valve cover are shouldered and are meant to bottom out before crushing the gasket. You mainly just want to tighten the bolts enough to keep them from loosening up. It is probably just a good idea to start in the middle and work your way out when tightening the bolts. Also, due to there being 3 pieces to the entire seal it would be a good idea to use a small dab of good quality sealer at the corner of the half-moon inserts to ensure a good seal. HTH
