So I have the 1990 Hardbody 5 speed 2x4, and I want to put in a limited slip. All the threads on axles don't really shed much light on the subject... They seem more biased towards 4x4. Anyways, I am going to do an SR20DET swap someday and I will definately need the LSD then, but for now it would be nice just for driving around. I don't really feel like welding the diff because it is my daily driver for now. I would like for it to be a bolt in affair if at all possible. Thanks,

-Mitchell

Like I said earlier, that doesn't say definitively which LSD axle fits my truck. It just says that there are LSD axles.

first you need to determine what axle you have and that thread will help you with axle identification.

As a shortcut, I'll give you an answer. I think you probably have the H190 . this is what I can find for your axle. Add to this $300 or so for installation and you have a lot of money tied up in a turd axle.

You'd be better off swapping a toyota rear under the truck if you're stuck on a limited slip. There's gobs more aftermarket out ther for the Toy 8: axle, and it's stronger than what you have. Nissan V6 4x4 truck axles can be found with them, but they're wider and they will push tires out past the fenders.

Well, first suggestion is to reconsider your engine choice as a KA-t is far better from an economical standpoint plus its already in your truck. The best and cheapest option for your truck which is equipped with an h190 most likely. You will know because it wont have a unboltable cover plate on the back of the axle, if it does its a c200. Powerbrute makes an LSD unit for all nissan axles but they're about 600bucks. I personally am more of a fan of the factory LSD units featured in some v6 2wd pickups but most v6 pathfinders recieved them as well. Pathy's also came with a disc option as to make changing brake pads a little easier. The pathy axles arent setup at all for your hb pickup but they can be made to work. All you need is a grinder and a welder, oh and two new axle perches to setup a pathy axle for a HB. I set one up last for under 300 bucks and my customer is more than happy doing burnouts in his 300hp truck. peace.

I thought about turboing the KA, but I know alot more about SR20's and I have alot of parts that are SR20 related. Plus this KA has 170k miles and I don't know how long it would last on boost. The sr20 I can boost alot higher on stock internals than the KA.

Well since I don't want to spend to get an SR20 for my truck, I'm just going to turbo the current motor. I really like the torque of the 2.4, so with a small turbo it should be really torquey.

What is a plentiful LSD rear end that will be the right size for a D21. It seems all the Nissan ones are too wide. Anybody know if something from a ford or better will be the right size and cheap?

I have another question, do the Balltech lowering springs stiffen the rear end any, or will I need to get the Nitro drop shocks as well?

Consider a rear axle out of a 2wd Toyota. There's gobs of aftermarket for their 8" diffs.

They did this on truckstv awhile back.

This is the only link I could find: http://www.powerblocktv.com/si...=0602

Since the link is pretty worthless -- you'll need to do some research. Its not like you could just bolt it in. It'll require some modification.

I was wondering about wheels with this conversion -- IIRC toyo 8" has a different bolt pattern. So that leaves him swapping the front setup to match or swapping the actual axles to match the original Nissan. Unless I'm forgetting a different way to change bolt pattern.

How wide is an H190 rear end?
