Do 1990-93 all have sodium filled exhaust valves or headers?

Or just sodium anywhere in the exhaust system?

And how much performace could this add?

I did a search and i only see that sodium helps cool the engine better?

but. mainly is sodium enriched valves avalible on the 1993 q45?

and out of all the G50's is the 93 the best q45?

Sodium helps speed the movement of heat from the exhaust valve tulip up the stem into valve guide then into coolant............it effectively allows more ignition advance during acceleration before knock begins.

Some tests show it allows 1-2 more degrees at WOT. Whether it is worth $160 extra over conventional exhaust valves or the ability to use a lower octane premium isleft up to buyer.

When I rebuilt the engine on my 74 VW bus, the factory spec was a sodium filled exhaust valve. Those mothers cost a fortune, but considering it's an air cooled HOT engine, and that the cooling air first got preheated by the oil cooler I bit the bullet and installed them. 120K later I sold it for parts after a huge oak tree fell on it. The engine still ran like a chainsaw and had excell compression.

O ok then on to my next question is the 93 q45 does it have those sodium filled exhaust valves?

And is the 93 the same or better of the 90-93 year q45's?

Does it really matter at this point in the cars lifecycle?

Whether a 93 model year is better or worse than 90,91,92 at this stage of life{old} is immaterial- what counts is how the specific individual vehicle was driven/over-maintained to prolong the life of all the sub-systems that make up a $50,000 car--- some chevy vegas may be "better" than some old Q,All depends on lack of owner abuse and frequent servicing.

I seem to remember hearing that the sodium content changed over the years - but I don't remember for sure. It might be worth checking the part numbers over the years in FAST... of course Nissan could have superceded the part to the same number over the years.

I think once you price a valve job from a competent shop (professional race standards) your curiosity will wane quickly.

So the benefit of the sodium valves is more efficient heat transfer? If used with 92+ octane, is the result better than that of the stock exhaust valve?

If the benefit isn't that much greater and your current exhaust valves are fine, I don't see the reason to purchase a new set of exhaust valves at the cost of OEM EV + $160.

Now, if you're rebuilding an engine and you have to purchase a new set, it wouldn't be crazy to just tack on an extra $160.

BTW, what do normal exhaust valves cost?

I tried to check the price from IOS but the site is down.
