As the topic states..

Attempting to crank the motor, the starter does not engage. Battery is OK and lights do not dim. I do hear several relays clicking. Clutch saftey switch is OK.

After attempting to crank a few times, the security light begins blinking. Thinking this was the culpret, I pulled the theft relay. This did not fix the problem. I then replaced the theft relay with the hibeam relay (they're identical) and this did not fix the problem.

I don't think the starter is bad as the lights do not dim when attempting to start, so I don't think it's getting the power to start.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

this won't help you too much, i think you're looking in the right place.

i had the same prob, took it to the shop w/no idea of what was going wrong, and they told me it was the security system. they fixed it (sorry, no more details) for around $50.

The security relay is operating properly (keeping normally closed and common connected, as in no alarm situation), so unless the security system can interrupt starting by means other than that relay, the security system isn't the problem.

The starter relay clunks when I depress the clutch safety switch and turn to start, so I assume that relay is OK (the security system would prevent that relay from activating if the security system were the problem). From that point, is there anything between the starter relay by the driver to the actual relay on the starter? If not, then the problem is the starter/coil on the starter.

Any other input?

Problem was clutch/starter relay (one located in fender well). $30ish from the dealer.
