Hey guys I recently picked up a 1990 300zx na and I'm fairly new with Z cars. So I'm having this problem where the car has almost no power under 3k but as soon as the rpms go up to 3k car runs fine. I was reading it was either a spark plug issue which I picked some up today or the fuel filter. What also happened to me today, while I was driving I put the car into first gear but the car stalled and wouldn't start for a while, until about 10 minutes later the car started rough, gave it a little gas, and then drove home fine.

The first thing to do is run the ECU codes. Found under everything you need to know about the Z32

Alright I just ran the codes for the ecu and all I got was code 13 which is the engine coolant temperature sensor circuit would that cause the car to do that tho?

Alright so I went out and bought a new coolant temp sensor. Now I'm getting code 32 but earlier today I was only getting code 13. 32 is the egr system is there any easy way to clean that out?

doyou have any stumbling or stalling when it idles? check the vac hoses to the solenoid, make sure the hoses are in the right place.. and then try some throttle body and intake cleaner through both throttle bodies and through the intake, and see if that helps. and replace the pcvs, to allow the whole intake system to breath.

check the pin on the ecu to see in there is power there, if there is. im going to guess there is a break in the wire, probably where the wire harness has to move when replacing the t-belt.

So the sensor is getting power I cheked by having the car running and disconnecting the sensor. Car revs up when disconnected. So now I'm wondering what else it could be?

I'm having similar issues. If I accelerate very slowly there is a significant power loss between 1800 and 3000 rpm. But If I accelerate hard then its not as noticeable if not possibly non existent. Also, going to check plugs, connectors and clean the intake system.

Guys, the Z32 suffers BADLY from corrosion of the various control sensors and such under the hood, most likely the issues described here. Been covered here for MANY years, over and over.
Reading through tech posts on this subject using search should have brought this up, and certainly using the fsm/osm would have you testing these areas as well...do your homework, common problem-solving stuff starting with the things available to you first before just stumbling in with vague questions that involve testing before anyone can do more than guess and give more "go corrosion hunting" comments.

talked with Joel from Z1 as mine kind of has this problem. but he said to check for vac leaks with boost leak gauge, also make surw ign timing is at 15° btdc and that the tps is set to 0.44. and then that the idle air is set properly as well.
