hello out there? I have a 1990 300zx non turbo automatic. and sometimes when I star the car and take off it doesnt go into gear. it will just rev out. i will be going 40 mph at 3000 rpm, doesnt go into gear. then sometimes when i start it , it takes off and drives and shifts beautiful. it seems to have a mind of its own. if it is driving mint it will drive great the whole time. when i shut the car off, and stat it up never know if it going to be a good day until i pull away. anyone have and ideas,

FYI= i started playing with the throttle position sensor ? maybe its faulty, maybe it needs some fine tuning?

if anyone has ideas I would love to hear them. thanks joe

Welcome to Nico!

first of all have you checked your trans fluid level? the propper procedure si with the ccar warmed up, run the trans through all the gears, and while parked on a flat surface, ut the car in neutral, pull the parking brake, and check the fluid, if it's low add, if not, it might be time to a filter and fluid change, and if all else fails, put in a 5 speed

Is everything else on the car working o.k.? Both the speed sensor and the TPS play an integral part in transmission shift points.

you can perform the transmission diagnostics per http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin...l=194
