Post

Hello everyone this is my first time posting in this fourm. I just got a 1990 300zx 2 + 2 a couple days ago. I needs some work and I just wanted to ask some questions.

First, I wanted to get the car painted (not a new color, but just to make the car look nicer) and sence I have to replace the front bumpper I was desciding if I should get a body kit or not. Does anyone know where I can get a body kit for a good deal.

Second question is, can someone direct me into finding some kind of repair manual like Haynes because I am trying to fix the driver side door becuase it doesn't lock.

Last but not least is my rear hatch is collecting water and has caused rust build up in the coners. If there come way I can get this fix for a resonable cost or should I just buy A new hatch?

WELCOME TO NICO!

as for a fascia or body kit there are a lot of options form many sources, please take the time to look through our sponsors I'm sure you can find a good price

as for the manual as far as I know factory service manuals are about it, and they are not cheap, keep your eyes on ebay and you can find used ones cheap, disks are availabe and cheap if that format works for you

as for the hatch, if it's rusting, I'd think it's cheaper to replace than to repair, the shop doing the paint can tell you what they thing but rust will spread if it's not completely removed

keep us posted on your progress

ok, thanks alot. So just to ask do you have a 300zx? I just wanted to know because I wanted to ask you if you get water build up on the coners. My friend who has a 300zx also says that she doesn't get water build up there.

I currently own a 9130ZXTT, the glass is rather vertical and does trend to hold a bit of water after a rain, most likely if it's rusting the car sat parked and leaves or other debris was allowed to sit there trapping the moisture in and allowing the rust to start, I should think in TX finding a suitable rust free replacement should not be an issue, I'm concerened taht to fully get the rust the galss is gonna have to come out and metal replaced and then the glass resealed, much cheaper faster and easier to get a new used hatch from a wrecked Z (all the ones I find are hit in the front)

I also have a 71 240Z, these cars are addictive

Yes, thats what i'm going to do. When I get the car painted I will just put the new hatch on. But for now I have to fix the lock on the driver side. For some reason it will not lock.

Yea the Z locks, VERY BAD

ppl jam screwdrivers in the lock and it turns off the factory alarm system and lets them in. I did it to my car... why? because if it worked (and it did work) I was gonna shave the locks off completely. Someone else did it to my Z earlier, and thank god for my aftermarket alarm.

Not to mention the doors mis-align as the car gets older and the factory alarm draws power (as I recently found out). So I gotta yank that POS out too and just keep my aftermarket alarm

I'll do a picture write up on that way later

yea, I think thats what happened because my car is from the impond and the security light keeps blinking. I am going to look at it again today. I am looking for a body kit right now. I found a really nice bumper for the car ( it's called the Giant???), but I just wanted to know if I can get just the bumper and get the side skirts and rear bumper from somewhere else and it match because they aren't selling the hole kit?

Well if your Security light is blinking the doors probably don't mount flush with the body or yes, the lock is screwed. The door sensor is that little rubber button you can push in with your fingers when the door closes.

You can try changing where that metal loop aligns with the two screw holes and it helped my Z turn off that light and mount flush, however the security seems to be permanently drawing power and its notorious I have heard lately for cr*pping on you.

Body kits, yea you can get the front from one place and the rest from other places. Just makes sure you specifiy model and such for the side skirts. Otherwise rear and front are the same on any Z. I would hunt and find all your parts first, that way you can have an idea if you like what you picked and if it is even available to match up parts.

I found that button you were talking about and I pushed it in and it didn't make a difference with that light flashing. Later on next week I am going to get it looked at along with my A/C and heat.

Well I wish I could find a more reliable place than ebay to get the body kit, but I really do like that bumper. But who knows maybe I can find something better somewhere else.

Does anyone know where I could find this, or should I just try to go to a junk yard and see if I can find it?

You could look into picking one up at your local dealer. They shouldn't be that expensive, plus then youd have a brand new one.

Nissan Factory part number for 90 2+2 with C interior code is 76911-30P02,you can enter this in my website front page through search by factory part number. This is a rather inexpensive factory part that is still available color coded to your car.

I went on your website and put in the item number. There is no discription or image, so I really wouldn't know what I was buying.

Unfortunatly with Nissan factory parts descriptions are not allways really clear. When pulled up through my site they reflect the TRUE nissan part description. It shows as a "GARNISH-WINDSHI", through the Nissan Fast System (system nissan dealers use to find parts/replaced old micro fish systems) the description is "Garnish Assy-Front Pillar, RH". You are welcome to look the part up individualy by following Collision Catalog - 1990 - Nissan - 300zx. Pillars rocker and floor, Interior trim, W shield pillar, W/t-top roof Right - W/o convertible. This will lead you to same result, but no picture. Reason I supplied part number was for speed of use, you are welcome to take the number to your local Dealer and they can pull this up in FAST and show you the diagram. Hope this helps.

Does anyone know who to tell if a heater code isn't working? My hear isn't working and I can't find the thermostat.
