Don't reply and say I didn't search the forums I did I just don't understand what I'm reading, and the other posts wouldn't solve my problem because I dont seem to understand them (because of the lack of 90 Auto climate posts also), but...I just got the car yesterday and its cold here in Tuscaloosa. So when i went and picked the car up it was hot so I had the AC on, later that day it was cold cold so I turned it up to 85 then 90 and no heat at all, its always cool and I have read that the 90 model diagnostic is different and its still seems to be ran the same with AUTO and OFF but the menus from 1-5 im not sure what they mean any help would be great I looked at the manual online so it was a tad confusing but I do know when you go from 85 to 90 you can hear something behind the dash move sooooooo please help, this is second vehicle I've owned, I also have a 95 HB (really easy to work on) and not near as technical, I am technical but I'm just stumped. Also when in diagnostic the top number means the menu number what is the bottom read out and how does the HI and LOW come in to play? I don't want to have to drive my HB just because of heat, lastly it seems everyone likes to give single BS answers like (Heater Core, Door MIX). If 1.2.3. was given it would be better haha hope y'all read all that :inout:my reaction if i read all that

It could be a clogged heatercore I've had to replace mine once, or it could be a stuck valve(the one that opens and closes the flap to allow coolant into the heatercore.) What you can do it get the engine hot and locate the 2 hoses to the heatercore. One will be going in and one will be going out, make sure they are both hot and if they are then thats a good sign. If only the one going into the heatercore is hot, then most likely your heatercore is clogged up.

okay so I think its the heater control valve where is the thing? around the heater core? which side? how to get to it? maybe even without removing the dash completely?

Here's two how-to's to try, I used the second one where the dash doesn't have to come out successfully.

The second method took me two days, mostly because I am older, slower, and can handle less discomfort than in the past. :chuckle:
Could probably be done in 5-6 hours by a dedicated person who doesn't get all cramped up under the dash every 20 minutes...
