Hello,

Just came from the shop and my 1990 300zx 2+2 (with 130,000 miles) needs some work. The engine is misfiring and the idle is bad. They presume its a major value problem, vacumn gauge is erratic. Apparently the shop doesn't have the PCM scanner to read nor do they want to do deal with the repair. Need an expert mechanic that specializes in this.

I am located in Pittsburg, CA (Northern Cali). Anyone can help or suggest a shop? Thank you in advance.

Sam from Pittsburg

you might want to contact your local zcca affiliate club (zcca.org) and find out who in your area they recomend, I would definitely NOT take the car to someone who had no experience wiht these cars and no scan equipment, most likely the vac is issue si caused by the miss and nto by a mechanical issue in the head, a leakdown test can corfirm this

if you decide to go at it yourself, first step si checking the ecu for codes, step 2 is finding otu which cylinder or cylinders are missing then we find otu if that cylinder is getting spark and fuel

Try buying a new throttle position sensor...
