Well my 1st Z finally blew up.. Not literally, but the transmission finally went out and I sold it. Recently a buddy of mine, a fellow Z enthusiast told me of a car he's going to be selling. Here's what I know so far, but not knowing a whole lot about mechanics (definitely more now than I did before I bought my first Z), I'm just trying to get some insight from the board to see if it's worth it. Probably not as an investment, but at least as a safe, cool ride that I enjoy driving and won't leave me stranded on the side of the road. I trust my friend, of course- but it's always good to do research.

what I know so far is that it's salvage because the right fender was stolen.

Thanks for any advice. Here's the work it's having done now.. (or when I fork over the cash)new engine (already bought), with less than 60,000 milesbody is perfect condition (I'm told)re-painted white (I'm told it's a good paint job), used to be rednew exhaust system (old one was crap)new water pumps, seals, brakes, hoses clutch and timing belt

selling for $4400.00

ummm.......first of all cars don't get totalled because they had a fender stolen, check with one fo the lemon checking companies and you'll likely find the car was stolena nd damaged or the car was wrecked enough to be totalled, and to that note if you pull the center nose panel off (you have to pull it to replace the air filters) you'll see the streight mounting pieces that it attaches to, if they appear in any condition other than streight and perfect it's been in a frontal impact

if the car used to be red and has been painted white it's likely a simple respray and not a quality color change, if the engine bay and door and hatch jambs do not match the new color it's gonna hurt the value

if it's a good chassis and is equipped the way you like it might still be worth the money but don't sign or pay for anything till all the work is done and you are satisfied with the result, I personally think you can dfind better in that range, and early Z32 2+2 is the cheapest of the Z32's I'm sure you can find better options

there was probably more done to the car than just a fender stolen if it has a salvaged title. i would do more research to find out why it has a salvaged title. also, i would check it out and see if the paint job is a quality one, like evildky said, they probably didnt paint the engine bay and the door/t-top jams. i would keep looking.
