The link's above.

Despite what the ad says, this car DEFINITELY needs a new engine. I spoke with the current owner, and the deal with the car is this:

The car belonged to a young girl, and it broke down on her. The current owner works for a towing company, and he's the one who towed the car for her. She was in a bind for $$$, so he offered to buy the car off her.

Anyway, he says there is a small rust spot under the spoiler (which I know is common with these cars.) The strut tower tops look good, and he says he saw no rust under the car. I did a VIN check, and it came up 100% clean.

Assuming the seals are good (roof and hatch) and there is no rust, what do you guys think of this car for a swap candidate, assuming I can get it for under $500?

I was serious ablut picking up the black 240 I originally posted, but the owner seems a bit shady. Now I'm looking for a different one.

looks real solid, i would say its a good swap canidate. If everything is good, all you would need is a new hatch and some passenger side bodywork. But i would go for it! especially if you can get it for 500, but 775 is still a good price on the buy it now.

Wow. I was thinking you guys would tell me it's a PoS!!!

So... a rust spot requires a replacement of the entire hatch?

That kinda sucks. If I could just sand/file off the rust and re-paint, that would be better.

Also, as for the side panel body work... That's no biggie. The uglier it looks the less people will want to steal it.

i would buy it now for 500. just fix the sides with body filler, or pull it out, then get a new paint job.

new engine, replace suspension things with rubber parts. ex: tie rods/ends, cheap.

I say buy it!!

That's what I was thinking, regarding the dent. It can easily be pulled out, and if not, it can stay that way for a little while.

But what do you think about the rear hatch? If it's just a small spot that's not rusted fully through, can I get away without replacing the whole thing?

Thanks guys!
