I recently bought a 90 240sx and the clutch went bad shortly after. I pulled the engine and replaced the clutch. While it was out I removed emissions. Got it back in and running and it ran extremely rich. Smoking out of the exhaust and rough idle. It ran a little rich before under heavy acceleration. I replaced Fpr, maf, tps, cleaned connectors, checked for vacuum leaks, I even traded ecu's. Never Any codes, still blowing a ton of smoke. I was messing with the tps while it was running and it died. I marked factory location and set it back but couldn't get it to start. It has spark, I assume it has fuel, I glanced at the fuses, everything seemed ok. Anyone have any clue what the heck is going on? :gotme

Well, it was running rich enough to flood the engine. I unplugged the fuel pump relay and got it to run. But I still have no idea why it's running so rich. the only difference is no emissions. Which I've deleted on 2 of my other dohc engines And nothing like this has happened. Could it be something to do with the sohc ecu dumping fuel? Anyone have any idea?

Does it run rich when it's cold, or only when it's heated up? Because if it only goes rich after it warms up a bit it could be the coolant temperature sensor going bad.
