Looks like the starter in my son's SX needs to be removed. Did a quick look at it and it appeared to be a bit complicated so I did some research on the Web because the Chilton's I've got is useless.

Does any have any tried and true helpful hints for making this a successful procedure.

Thanks in advance.

take off belt.. remove the bolt that lets the alternator pivot back and forth... then remove plug, ground and main bolts. after that go under car and remove the bottom bolt that one one side is held on by a rectangular piece of metal, that is the bolt the alternator pivots on, after that u gotta jiggle it back and forth til u get it off

Umm. I think he meant starter. The starter is about three a plug and a couple wires off the top of my head. I believe it can be easily accessed from underneath the car. The bolts holding it on my car, automatic may be different, are actually bolted through the transmission. I think there is only two or three bolts holding it in place and it slides out rather easy. Just make sure you torque the bolts back on to specification.
