The A/C unit on my car does not light up. I have ripped it apart and found nothing to be wrong. It also does not shift from Defrost to feet or out of the dash vents. I looked under the hood and found a cable that does not apparently have anything to connect to. it runs in the same cable run and the ac compressor but is not long enough to reach there. The wire colors are one is pink the other is brown. Could this be the problem and what does it hook to? The push buttons that control theswitching do not light up when pressed either. Is all of this linked or what can I do to fix it.

Hmmm....

You might want to check this:

If I understand your post correctly, you get no lights on anything? not even on the illumination of the hot and cold strips? And when you press the buttons, the motor along the driver's side doesn't move the visible linkage to change vent placement?

It sounds like something more serious than what I'm suggesting, but my climate control was the victim of many bad solder joints. So many, that my lights to indicate which button was pressed were intermittent and didn't work half the time. It's possible your unit itself is particularly bad.

You can remove the unit and open it up looking for bad solder joints. They'll be milky in color or dark brown and corroded looking. With a solder gun and some fresh solder, go back over them. This fixed my light problems.

Also, stupid question time: Are all the wires plugged into the climate control unit? What about the brown plug that goes to the motor on the drivers side? Is that attached?
