1990 240sx se: Suspension problems.HELP!

before i get started, let me say this. i have driven many s13's. i have owned 2. i know how they drive and how rear wheel drive is.

my recently purshased s13, which was ragged out, is having a little bit of suspension problems. i cant keep control of the rear end mainly. its so bouncy, i mean -10 stiffness. it feels like im driving a boat. ive almost wrecked 2 times already because of it, so it needs to be fixed. it just feels like a real LOOSE suspension.

IT WANTS TO FISHTAIL ALL THE TIME, EVEN AT LOW RPMS. every **little** bump at normal speeds will make the backend slide out a little

can someone tell me what this could be, youll probably save my life because this is my only car with insurance.

Sounds right, if its really bouncy, then you likely need new shocks...

You can likely get aftermarket OE replacemnt that will be cheaper than factory. Also replace your dust boots and strut mounts...

Start there, and see what its like after that.

You're hitting the rear bump stops, which gives your rear end an infinite spring rate, which will obviously make you snap oversteer.

As to WHY you're hitting the bump stops, I dunno. Probably bad shocks, possibly damage to the strut mounting itself. Maybe somebody just put something together wrong.

ok sounds good.i just got back from a little road with about 4 speedbumps on it. i noticed that the front of my car would bounce down, then go back to ride height. real smooth. then my rear would bounce up and down. grrr

basically. EVERYHTING IS PUT TOGETHER WRONG. spark plugs hand tightened in. valve cover barly on and leaking oil. etc. everything is getto rigged.

but, thats not a problem for me. i wanted a car that i could customize myself, this way im just forced to do it.

If the rear is bouncing up and down repeatedly, then there's either something wrong with the springs (maybe the previous owner cut them?) or there's something wrong with the shocks.
