1990 240sx: running poorly

i have a 240sx with a redtop sr20 in it and it was running fine and then i replaced the fuel filter with a 300zx fuel filter and now it runs really rich and it seems like it wont go into closed loop operation, and when i hit the gas it hesitates then bogs and barely runs. if you could point me in the right direction that would be great
