1990 240sx odometer problem

I have a 1990 240sx and the odometer will only occasionally work. I have not noticed any specific trend in when it works and does not work. I was wondering if there was any one out there that can give me some tips on where to start.Thanks

replace the speedo head

check the solder joints for the odometer

thanks i will check the solder joints and if there is nothing wrong i will look into the speedo head.
