Hey guys,

My 90 240sx was idling really bad. Idle drops to like 100 ~ 200 rpm then back up and the engineer shakes terribly. I read somewhere on here that cleaning the throttle plate and IACV would help this. So I cleaned the throttle plate and my idle is constantly at 2000 rpm now. I haven't gotten around to clean the IACV. What could be the problem? Throttle plate not cleaning after I cleaned it? I cleaned the gunk with carb clean and a towel.

Thanks guys.

clean the iacv, check coolant level. adjust the iacv and maybe the throttle cable is stuck

i second that. I'm willing to bet that the iacv is clogged if yoru throttle body was that bad...adjust it after cleaning back down to the comfortable 700-800 range or wherever you might like your car to idle..

If that's all you did and didn't adjust anything, then it is most likely a vacuum leak somewhere.
