I have a 1990 240 and my factory gauge cluster wont light up. The digital clock which is under the spedo and tach is illumintated when the actual lights are off. BUt when i switch the headlights on the clock isnt illumintated and i have no gauge lights at all. Any ideas???

It might be a short in the switch so check the switch and behind the gauge cluster and sometimes messing with wires works.

Just get your self a little light to put on your dash that sets in front of your cluster and use a switch to turn it on or off.I did that with my 93 hatchback. I spent about 250 bucks to have some one tell me that I have a broken ground wire between the computer and the gauge cluster.

do your ac controls doesn't light up as well?

if it doesn't, i'd look into the white plastic box that's hidden behind the driver side kick panel... the time control unit had a blown point on the board & i soldered it together.

hopefully, it's that & not streetracer's; alot cheaper too!

i also have the same problem in my '90.. .but it happened when i installed my new cd deck... i just put a light on me steering collum (sp?) and a toggle switch in the blank little button thing where the rear window wiper thing is... i looked at the fuses and all were in good shape... too lazy to search for anything else

the problem with putting a light in there is that if the fuse for the dash lights is blown i'm willing to bet that your taillights don't work eathier because they use the same fuse......so i'd be sure to check that out then use the little light thing idea

this is the TCM... that white box i was talking about... check this out since all it requires is removal--opening the case--looking for the burnt area.

other than that, grounds/loose wires...

or just be lazy & do the dash light thing; i was lazy & put it off for almost a year, but my ghetto riggin was the shizzle; little NICOtot would say, "bling-bling"
