I have a 1990 240sx (factory KA24E) and the motor/5 spd transmission (KA24DE)from a 1992. Also the ECU and harness from the 92. I want to use the new motor, but stay with the auto transmission. Will the old transmission work on the new motor, and do i still need to swap the gauge cluster/ECU from the 92 into my 1990?

Thanks in advance guys!

You will need the auto trans control unit for the 92 ECU you plan on using. They "talk" alot when driving. This is required for proper shifting and such. There may also be harnesses required for them to mate up.

You'll also need a 91 or new tach as the 90 tach will not work with the 92 ECU.

Cool. Will the one from the 90 not work since it was a factory automatic?

The 90 transmission control unit will not work with the 92 ECU because the pin-outs on the 92 ECU are different from the 90 ECU.
