1990 240sx coupe pop-up lights won't go down.....

hi, i was wondering if you guys could help me...... for the last few days my 1990 240sx coupe's headlights have been stuck in the on (up) position after i was driving around one night. i tried turning them off several times and the lights go off but they don't go back down..... is this a fuse problem or something??? thanks a lot!!! -Blake

Have you tried the retraction switch? Lots of people have this problem butIve never seen anyone fix this.

yeh i tried that but no luck there...... i just don't won't to spend all that money just yet to get a s13 or s15 front end conversion........ i could buy some of those ebay lights but they look kinda gay to me.....anybody got any ideas how i can just fix what i got??? thanks!!!

Check to see if you have a burned out relay, since both are stuck up

look at the second last post in the above thread. there are 4 retractionrelays. 3 in one box and 1 in another box. i labeled them in red but hardto follow. i think 3 are black relays so you can change them around to seeif symptoms change. the other relay is grey, at least for 91-94240sx. double-check all your fuses,too.

for the life of me, I dont understand why someone can not answer the op considering how common this symptom is.

thanks..... i'll have my dad look at those pictures and he can maybe help me find the problem. he knows a lot more about this sorta thing than i do. but yeh it could possibly be a relay i suppose......

for me i had to replace the little motor .. from the junkyard. no sweat.

Try to use the manual retraction. If it pulses out of your hand everytime the relay isn't blown IIRC.

I have the same problem, lights stuck up, go down ok manaully and at times they do pulse out of my hand. checked and swapped all relays with no luck?? Fuses ok. I can jump some connections under the relays on the drivers side and the lights will cycle down then up again.

might be the headlight motors.
