Yeah, the offset makes them look wider...I wish manufacturers made wider sizes that aren't really tall for 16" wheels. Hankook does have a 245/45R16 in the RS2 I believe.

So I finally got to drive this thing, and overall I am pretty happy with the setup. Let's just say that I am way more pleased with the car than I am with my driving. I placed 3rd out of 18 in the street tire class and I PAXed 41/146 which is OK, but there was a lot more time that I could've taken off.

As far as my first impressions of the tires, I can't really complain about them. They have very good grip, probably close to RT-615s (although it has been a while since I've driven on a set of those). Breakaway is progressive, however, they don't make much noise when doing so. I was finding a cold pressure of about 34 psi all around was a good compromise. Next event I may experiment with varying front and rear pressures.

I seemed to lock up under braking quite a bit. Brake pedal feel wasn't as crisp as I remember. I'm going to bleed the brakes again and see if that helps. I didn't notice any rubbing on the front fenders, although it looks very close in the pictures...

Anyway, it felt really good to get back out on course after a long winter!

As long as the passenger is a registered driver

Wow, that's awesome.

For our region & all the surrounding regionsb as far as I know, no passengers are allowed during competition runs. You are only allowed an instructor for one run - and the instructor must have already driven the course & completed his/her runs .

That's kind of lame...sometimes we can even take spectators as long as the safety steward OKs it.

Yeah, same here. In the NJ events I go to, passengers are never allowed, only instructors.

hey good show last sunday man!

just wanna ask about your schroth harness. From their site i believe you're having the Quick Fit, but they make it for only a few German cars plus the STi. Which model did you end up getting? and does it really fit 240s?

Hell yeah, I had a lot of fun even though we only got 4 runs. Once I feel the car out a little more, I think I can put down some competitive times. It felt like the car was sliding around a lot, but a few people that saw my runs said that the car looked pretty composed...don't know what's up w/ that, lol.

The harness isn't the quick fit, its the plain old Rallye 4. It just bolts into the rear seatbelt mounting points. There's another mounting bolt on the seat bracket and one under the carpet right next to where the lap belt retracts to (which is what I believe you would use if you were converting to manual seat belts). When I was reading the vehicle list that it can be installed on, the 240 wasn't on there, which scared me a little bit. I'm pretty sure that is because of the automatic belts. I'm not using this thing on the street, so I'm not too concerned. It fits, and it holds me in the seat nicely during runs.

No, your car looked good, didn't slide much. The brakes seem to lock quite often though.

yea i forgot about the simple Rallye 4. Somehow I pictured your harness clicking on a lot of buckles..

Yeah, I'm still trying to find the threshold on these tires. Also, the pedal feel was a little vague for my liking. I don't know if I have some air in the lines or if the HPS pads are just like that.

probably air in the line. Also 240 pedal feel is generally weak.

It's there, listed as 200sx s13 http://english.schroth.com/tuning/vrlue.php. Apparently they recommend only the Rallye 3

This weekend I PAXed 24/85 (25/85 raw) on street tires...not too bad. The car felt even better, almost completely neutral. Considering that I just bolted a bunch of parts on, along with the fact that I am a relatively inexperienced driver, I think this is a very capable chassis if time is put in to actually set it up and a good driver is put behind the wheel.

Not to threadjack here, but shoot me an e-mail at danielbutton(at)live(dot)com. I'd like to buy those belts if you want to sell!

Neutrality is good, seems like the more experience you get it will still be a good car to learn with.

So I got to try the car out in the rain today...driving was pretty fun, working was not. Placed 9th out of 47 in raw time, not too bad...these tires feel really good in the wet.

I took my first road tire class win on Sunday on a very long, high-speed course. Best time was 80.441. What sucks is that I'm probably only going to be doing one more event this season, since I'm moving to Evansville, Indiana for a 6-month co-op block with Toyota. Maybe there's a local group down there that puts on events, but I highly doubt it since it's in the middle of nowhere. Plus, I really don't want to go on a 12-hour drive in this car, lol.

results (let me know if you can't open it): http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/A..._.htm

Yeah, he's a damn good driver, too. Of course he coned away a run that was a second faster, lol. R-compounds would put me right up there.

dang I've been stuck in jersey for a while but will return in June. I miss going to events already. Too bad you're leaving

Take the car down there man, its only 12 hrs away. Tweak the dampers and live with it. I drove 3 days from Cali back on blown shocks and 300lbs of junk, with that engine you're running. You won't regret having the car along. And get a $500 beater with the co-op money

5 seconds off google gives me this http://www.greatlakes-scca.org/regions

It's not really the suspension stiffness that is bad, it's the vibrations and resonance from the engine/transmission mounts and the lack of a radio (I may just buy a cheap one to throw in real quick). I also need to get it inspected before I leave, since it expires in June.

After looking at those SCCA regions, all the Kentucky events are within 2 1/2 hours (Louisville and Fort Knox). This really makes me want to bring the car along. There will be 17 events from different regions within 3 1/2 hours of me. I doubt I'll make it to them all, because that is a lot of driving, but I want to do most of them.

I've taken a few 1-2 hour drives with Project Silvia mounts and the Peak Performance "race" transmission bushing on KTS coilovers. My right foot fell asleep, but otherwise it wasn't that bad... lol. Maybe if you put a cushion or something under your heel it'll be ok... heh.

I just hope I can get the emissions stuff back on and have it inspected before I have to leave. It's not looking too good right now.
