car has a problem only starting during the summer - car starts fine all winter long - in summer after using for awhile and the car sits for about 10-20 mins - car will not start - does not crank but get a clicking sound from the starter - wait awhile and starts fine - have replaced the starter 3 times and put in a new battery - has been happening for about 1 1/2 years - nobody seems to know what the problem is - any suggestions would be appreciated

Hmmmm. I just burnt up 2 starters with a new MP3 player installed, I have a 94 convert. Car is still in the shop.

You can remove the starter and have it tested, I seen them testing the second one that got fired.

Basically if you have booster cables from your battery. They put the ground onto the starter body ( at the bolt hole) and touch the positive to the threaded bolt and the starter should energize. There will be a spark.

If it does not energize its the magnetic switch or a bad coil.If it noisey perhaps its the brushes inside. Nissan sell the brushes as a spare part and are easy to install. If the starter is Okay, it would have to be traced back to perhaps the relay.

See my problem, I just posted.Cheers.

Check your alternator fuses. Sometimes the heat will cause things like that to expand and funny things happen.
