1990 240sx: Are the cruise button wires hot swappable?

I've relocated my cruise buttons, and I have three wires, red, yellow, and blue. I know the yellow connects to the horn connection.

Not sure on the other 2 wires, which are for set and resume. If I'm testing it in the car, can I keep the car running and swap the wire ends till i figure out which is which?

I found a write up for wiring it but it was for a 91+ and the wires are different colors coming from the on the 89-90.

My cruise button light comes on, but won't set when I'm at speed. CC slowly stopped working over the last several months. Its a feature I love to have....
