Hi! I just bought a new project car. It is a 1990 240sx w/ over 200K on the motor. It runs hot within a few miles of easy driving or within a few minutes os running while sitting in the garage. It has a new radiator, water pump and thermostat. The fan clutch appears to be bad. There are no fluid loss on the motor. There is a ticking sound in the manifold. I think that the head is bad, but realy can't figure out the problem. Please help! Thanks! GONZO

Sounds like you've got a blown head gasket. I would check the oil and see if it is a milky brown color.

how long ago were the the cooling parts replaced. if it was recent it is possible an air pocket could be trapped in the engine causing the problem.

How can I check to see if there is an air pocket? Is it a easy fix? Also, There wasn't even a gasket on the head. Don't ask me why, I just bought it!
