Hey all! I am getting a lot of knock from my engine. It only does it every now and then but now it seems to be more frequently. My oil level is fine, I am about due for an oil change. The past couple times i have changed my oil I have started to notice small oil leaks in the gaskets, which is expected for a 15 year old car, so despite my better judgement I added 1 bottle of stop leak to the oil on my last change in hopes of stopping the leaks. Now my car is knocking more frequently now and i am wondering if there is some sort of filter on the engine that has an effect on engine knock when it becomes clogged. The reason i ask is because the previous owner said the engine knocked for a short period and her mechanic changed some filter and it never knocked again. I am wondering if the stop leak has clogged this filter or even the oil filter so much that it is restricting oil flow to the head. I pulled the dipstick while the car was running to make sure the pump was working and the oil did read high as expected but it was not much over full. So it is either my pump, oil filter clogged, or some unknown to me filter/sensor that is causing it to knock sporatically. Any advice or helpful information? Thanks ahead of time, I really do appreciate it. I hate taking my car to mechanics.
