1990-1996 Q45 foot rest studs

I read recently that Q451990 replaced the foot rest studs on his car. I may have misread but in case I didn't, How did you do it?

I must be starting to loose my mind. I swear I heard someone drilled out the foot well studs.

Well it seems that the studs are covered by the firewall which sits over the dashboard part of the firewall. Something the Body repair manual neglected to mention. My guess is that they never expected the damage to go past there.

So replacement is very difficult indeed.
