I took apart my fuel filter after having it in their for a little more than a year. I weighed it before taking it apart (semi Dry weight) 5.0 ounces. But please keep in mind I am using a cheap Chinese fish/luggage scale (Electronic spring scale). I bought it to measure the turning resistance of the steering rack at idle. (Still with in spec with a Magnefine filter and turkey baster drain and fill). I never measured the weight of the fuel filter new but I am sure many people here have one laying around they would not mind weighing?

In case any of you are wondering I did this because Dennis said to compare the dry (new) weight to a used fuel filter to see the difference. I plan on taking apart my Purolator oil filter after 3000 miles (Valvoline Maxlife oil).

I will have pictures up soon.

unless you TOTALLY let old filter completely dry out to measure difference in weight with the brand new {dry} new filter.......either way, not sure how much it matters, as you would HOPE and expect the old filter to weigh more than the new if it is doing its job collecting debris!

Well despite my lack of scientificness (I made it a word) I finally have pictures:

The OEM fuel filter is built better than some oil filter and was a big pain to take apart. The weakest part about it was the copper solder on the inlet and outlet tubes.

Looks like the fuel quality is good where you are.

Stretch out the filter until is flat.
