I recently found out that the J30 and FGY33 Q45 (1997-2001 Q45) have a little center console light. I thought it would be cool to add to the Q45 and I bet Qship96 will love this.

I went to the Junk Yard and got the light and part of the harness and I its a 3 Watt 12 Volt bulb which will be easy to add to the 1990-1996 Q45. I was thinking about attaching the bulb to the sun roof controls. Meaning you have to drill a very small hole in the back of the sun roof controls and mount the bulb socket some where near the hole. The light will be added to the dimmer switch so that the light dims with the rest of the interior lights.

But for those that don't want it on at certain times the connector would have to be unplugged unless you want to mount a switch some where (non OEM like)

As soon as I get my self a spare sun roof control switch I will post pictures.

This little light should light up the center console and maybe the radio!

For those of you with this light already installed on your FGY33 or J30 please tell me if you like it.

Cool......what I really want is a small flush mounted light inside the center console box, similar to the glovebox lamp to see whats inside the center console box{94-96Q}

For that you just need a spare center console, a 1990-1996 Q45 glove box switch and a light.

Then drill a hole for the light and switch (Both should be as hidden as possible).

Then connect the light to the switch, ground the light and connect the other part of the switch to the dimmer switch so that when the pilot lights are on the center console light will illuminate just like the glove box.

keep the original center console box if you plan on selling your car at Barret Jackson.

My light will do about the same but will not be as bright and will always be on.

Are you talking about the small light up near the sunroof switch which illuminates the console?

If so, I love it. Pretty cool feature that is actually quite useful at night, like when you're looking for your roach clip or bottle opener for instance.

I almost like it as much as the black lights I installed under the running boards which I pulled off of an Escalade which I did the same day I put the massive erector set aero-wing on the trunk lid which I did the day after I put on the 24's (had to take a pneumatic set of shears to the fenders to get those mothers to fit!) which I did the day after I put the 3000 watt thumpers in of course I had to leave room for the nitrous bottle and the 4 diehards to power the hydrastic pumps for the low rider bounce actuators and associated plumbing man what a ride plus I hung some purple velour curtains on which I did the same day that I installed a huge hood scoop (pneumatic shears again) which I did at the same time I threw the air filter box away cuz I dig noise and hate piston rings about the same time I stuck my giant "Capricorn" sticker on the back window say does anyone know where can get some buick style holes for my front fenders?

I plan on driving my Q til it is ready to go to the junkyard , just not sure which major component will fail first that will send it there.....transmission? Injectors? Differential? Doubtful it will be the engine

LOL Mako you are a real trip bud !!Kudos'I have that light on my J30 and it does come in handy.can be lit while driving at night while a passenger looks at a map or something but doesn't impair the drivers vision like the dome lights do.Also a high output L12 Volt LED of your choice of color looks nice.Only works when the headlights are on FYI.

Well the Injectors got you thus far on E10 junk so thats great. That mean they must have improved the injectors in 1996 because the FGY33 has no injector problems (Yet)?

But I think I can make the sun roof control light up like vent lights one the 1990-1992 Q45.

2. light the maplamp switches3. light the recesses behind the lock and door open lever in both doorpanels4. light the inside center console storage box front and rear5.underhood lamp
I plan on making how-to's to the above but I will definitely do #5 and think about doing #2 and #3.

Any other suggestions?

So the title will need to be change accordingly.

If you are ever in the junkyard, grab an underhood lamp from a early Datsun Z car {from the 70s-early 80s} they were really neat, with a detachable head connected with about 6 feet of coiled wire- you could move the lamp around to inspect every corner of under-hood area and even drape it over the fender to provide light to fix a flat tire.

Found one for your viewing pleasure! http://www.nissanpartsmagazine...1.jpg

Well I could find a old 300ZX anywhere so I bought this light from Dano (new in the box): http://www.meritline.com/gm-go....aspx

It has the battery life of 2 hours and has a hook and a magnet!!!

Light was $20 shipped.

The Nissan underhood lamp was original standard equipment on the older 280zx and possibly the even older 280/260/240z models- I think it was dropped on the 300zx and newer Zs due to cost cutting. Your GM light looks good!

Here is an original one on ebay currently http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors..._1117

And another that shows the hidden extendable cord to move the lamp around to check different areas under the hood http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...t_789
