I took apart a spare and non closing ashtray for the benefit of Nico and its members who own Q45's.

What I saw is basically the front cover of the ashtray the part that is exposed and matched to the interior of the car is REMOVABLE, all that holds it to the rest of the ashtray is 2 screws and a plastic clip.

I also saw what causes them not to close and stay closed, I will post pictures tonight.

But just so you know that the ashtrays are all interchangeable the front colored cover is what make them appear different.

Pictures will be up tonight.

If you are talking about the front dash mounted ashtray, Those of us lucky enough to own 94-96 enjoy genuine wood ashtray covers, not the cheesy Lego plastic like the 90-93!!!!!!

I would rather not get into the luxury or performance debate, but we can also get 1994-1996 ashtrays and center console window switches.

Glad to see you have discovered something KNOWN for 19 1/2 years by every Infiniti tech and many owners who often learned when replacing the radio.

Things much discussed 10 -15 years ago on the old 1995-1999- Infiniti Bulletin Boards before the Inet came into common use. Even discussed on NICO back in 2002.

Fun to see people rediscover things again and again every few years, then run out of money and go on to another vehicle.

Why don't either of you point me to the topic or even the page in the FSM? That Ok I got nothing but time, But this is what I get for helping out newbies, I think I will keep what secrets I know to my self.

And even a new and unbiased member has had trouble with T-3 so Dennis why don't you deal with that an leave this topic be. zer...-slow.

Mark my words I WILL NEVER SELL MY Q45, better yet the day i sell my Q45 is the day we NEVER hear any complaints about T-3.

"Why don't either of you point me to the topic or page in Nissan FAST or even the page in the FSM?"

What do you think this is PUBLIC SCHOOL or REMEDIAL Community College?

NICO/ Infiniti started out for ADULTS who paid $38,000-$50,000 for their vehicles. Or at worst case bought them used for half price.

It is assummed that members would read everything available concerning their vehicles including the PREVIOUS 100,000 posts.

Why should I care what happens between customers [who lack experience on Q] and T3 obviously you have not read that I am not an employee...............discussed about evey 6 months since 2002.

Just shows you lack of historical education concerning forum!

So defending your self is snitching?

Somebody pissed because they put a lot of money in a slow a** rust bucket of a Q, I bet the FGY33 is faster than yours, Hell I would take any year especially 1997-1998 FGY33 over your Q45.

Go kiss up to Qtech at T-3.

And Qtech I guess reading almost EVERY old post from the Infiniti general forum, Q45 forum and the IOM forum and reading all the things Brian gave to me about your info on the Q45 does'nt count in your book.

I wounder if Kiss a** Qship did any of that?

It is important when newish [2,000 posts in 15 months] members find something to crow about like how an ashtray is retained or works or can be repaired. My point was that it is common and in your face when ever you remove radio for repairs or replacement. This action was probably more common than repairing a broken ashtray alone where the radio is removed to facilitate access.

Why bring in a company into a conversation, just show the weakness of your counter argument................something they teach in Debate and Logic, rhetoric, tautology classes.

Son, if you take a look, you will see I have been here since The year Nico was founded, and a member of the previous yahoo board before Nico was started..........and purchased my first, brand new Infiniti in 1993 when you were 3 years old and still in diapers, getting nourishment from mommys utter

and there is a big difference from someone regurgitating info from old posts{you} and a true understanding of information, concepts, and systems. At 19 years old, you are still a rookie driver, much less a expert on any motorcar. Spend more time learning, and less trying to teach.
