My waterpump is leaking now, obviously causing overheating problems, and my mechanic friend told me it just needs to reseal. Now he said he'd do it but it's taking a while for him to get around to it, and I'd just like to verify the proper method of taking off the waterpump because I just might reseal it myself.

I'd also like to check and see if I need/should get a new waterpump one time.

Also, do you need to remove the thermostat on the SR to flush the radiator? or is there something you have to do to get it open so that the water will flow? When it overheated once I took it to a radiator shop and the technician said that it needs to be removed (but I remember seeing that people flushed their radiators themselves, just having a hell of a time finding those threads again)

Thanks for any help.

Yea dude just get a new water pump. I just recently had the same problem with my 240, it kept overheating then i looked at my water pump and found that coolant was puring out of the hole at the bottem of the pump. So i removed the pump resealed it and it still was leaking. Brought new pump put it on and now car is running fine. So just replace the pump. Start by taking the fan shrout off and any hoses in your way. Take off the four bolts that hold the fan into place, and pull the fan off. Then loosen the tentioner there sould be 3 bolts to get the belt loose enough, remove belt and then unscrew the bolts that hold the waterpump in place. Its a pretty simple job just look at what your doing and think about it before you start ripping things apart. I would recommend using orange gasket sealer even if it comes with a new gasket, just slap it over the gasket.
