Howdy. I got a 2wd nissan d21 with a very underpowered z24i engine. It looks like after market performance pickin's are slim for the z24i engine. i want to keep it nissan however if i do an engine swap. i was looking at vg30e engines. possibly vg30et engines. i was just wondering if anyone has done this (z24 to vg engine swap in a hardbody) and could lend some advice. i know 1989 had a v6 option so would the motor mounts be the same? would the 5 speed mated to my z42i bolt up to a vg30e? i'm really lookin in the 160-200hp range. nothing too nasty. and not too exspensive. i am also not looking to do much crazy wiring work. so probably not a vg30de engine or anything very late-model because of the increased amount of electronic controls. any info or reccomendations would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

That would be a ruthless engine to stick in there. but i'm looking for slightly better gas milage because it is my daily driver. i got a camaro for the bad gas milage. thanks for the input though. appreciate it.

I think 4cyl and v6 trucks have different transmissions.
