I'll be installing some coilovers soon and i was wondering if i should order new "gaskets" from the dealer or should i just re-use the old ones.

By gaskets i mean the flat orange rubber/silicone/vinyl piece that goes between the shock mounts and the body. Not really a gasket per say, but that's the only term i could think of to describe them.

Thanks,K

Yeah it sits between the body and the upper mount. If you're going to do it, you should get some new ones. my s13's were split into 3 pieces when I pulled the front and the back were beginning to crack.

In that case, I'll try to get down to the dealer and order some new ones.

Getting to the dealership in my area is a PITA though and they never have stuff in stock that i need. It would be very helpful to have a place online to order this kind of stuff, but all the places i've looked only have the basics like filters, distributor caps and spark plugs.

It would be nice to be able to get Nissan OEM stuff like lower shift boots, coolant bypass hoses and replacement nuts/bolts online.

Are you worried about corrosion? Your talking about the paper thin orange gasket right? Not the bumper that the shock bottoms out on if the suspension is completely compresses? If your talking about the gasket you would be one of the first people in history to order one.

Yea that's the part i'm talking about, the orange gasket. I'm sure it serves a valuable purpose, although i'll admit i don't know what that purpose is

I've gotta order a few other parts anyway so i'll just drop it in with the rest of the order. If it was only for that, i suppose i could just try and find a similar piece of material and cut some out myself.

It helps keep the humming noise down. The upper mounts vibrate despite being bolted down to the chassis. And yes, you probably would be the first person to ever order them. Congratulations!

I took mine off and after multiple shocks and coil installations, I didn't notice any difference.... Either all the other noises from my RUCAS,etc. are drowning the noises or my old ears are not registering those low frequencies anymore.

I don't think you should be concerned about it...specially with coilovers. The way they are attached to the car and the pivot point being at the ball joint, I don't think it justifies having one.
