1989 nissan 240sx alarm question?

I just bought a 1989 nissan 240sx about a week ago and I am in love with the dam car, but today I opend the air filter to check it out and then when I put it back in, I tried to start the car but the ignition wont turn and im afraid to force it to turn cause I might break the key. does anyone know what I did wrong? can you please help me out, oh and im new to this site. Thank you!!!

Use one of the other 4 keys that probably came with the car. =) Mine came with 2 ignition keys and 2 door keys...and zero hatch keys =(

Also, you can try turning the steering wheel to the side as you turn the key.

likely the wheel lock is engauged.

turn the wheel to a "loose point" and then turn the key.
