1989 hatch exhaust proposal...

1989 240sx fastback stock other than intake... KA24E (SOHC)

This is my plan... Please comment good/bad on this...

1. stock header/downpipe2. remove cat (NC emission laws are no more!!! 2006)3. weld a 22" 2.5"OD magnaflow resonator in place of the cat (maybe an adapter 2.25"???)4. 2.5" aluminized tubing to the muffler using crush bends where needed(I'm not boost'n this engine)5. ending with an adapter to a apexi 3"OD muffler with a 4.25"Tip... ANGLED toward the driver's side...

I have all of this stuff already... so using what I already have would make this the most cost efficient for me. My personal opinion is that the crush bends would work just fine in my case. I could go mandrel easily if it were highly recommended... THANKS AGAIN NICO'erz!!!

if you can do mandrel bends easily then do it

The place I got my exhaust tubing bent only charged a dollar a bend (for mandrel bends.)

I didn't price around, but someone told me thats a real good price. I'd look into it.

not too many places have mandrel benders....best place for mandrel bends are metal fab shops

If you are going to run 2.5" piping, I'd say get some aftermarket headers, like hotshot or dc sport or something. Then you'd be running a smoother pattern, 2.5" almost all the way.

And why not mandrel bend it, shouldn't cost much more at all.

Honestly, unless you were planning on building the engine later on down the road, I wouldnt worry about getting your piping mandrel bent. Not only is it relativly hard to find a cheap exhaust shop that has a mandrel bender but it would be an unneccessary expendature. Unless you are looking to squeeze every little horsepower, then it really wouldnt benefit you that much to mandrel.

Lets make our exhaust systems soon thomas, I think i wanna take 2.5" all the way cat back or well in our case resonator back.... btw no cat is illegal on my car dang 96 the law is for 96 and newer so i got screwed
