1989 hatch! classic or not

just curious someone told me today my car was a classic, its 21 years old now so just wondering what the guy meant,is it true or what?

I mean...it's based on opinion, I guess. I think 25 years old is what the DMV considers classic.

while it varies by state the general rule is classic is 15 and at 25 years its antique

if you keep it stock

the classic tag has mileage limitations, but you can get cheaper insurance as a second car

antique is the coolest. once you get tags you only ever need to keep up w registration

no inspection FTW

Classic insurance for me was almost $300 cheaper, but it has limitations on mileage and needs an appraisal for higher insured value.

Wait..so here in PA after 25 years of a carsage you dont need inspection? Which means you can mod it after without a problem with smog tests and such?

Dependson the state, in PA classic is 10 years, but must drive less then 5K a year and be in really good shape in origional form. Antique is 25 years.

The part of Florida that S13JDM and I are in dont inspect anyway, unless its for a rebuilt, or custom built title. Lucky for us!

and S13JDM, just so you know, in Florida, 20 years old is a classic, BUT the dmv does NOT give the big tag/title/reg discount unless its at least 30 years old, kinda f-ed up, but thats how it goes

you can mod it before;

just keep the body stock.

iirc they dont ask for engine bay shots. just keep it 4 lug so u can put some stock wheels on it and then snap the pictures
