Hey guys, after years of waiting it finally came the time to pick up my first 240 :) . Bodys at 280xxx with 150xxx on the swapped single cam, sitting on megan coils. Bodys a little rough dent and paintwise, othetwise its pretty clean with no rust. 3" catback, cold air and a short shift, grabbing it for $2000 in a couple days , heres the only pic i have for now
Image .
Plans for now are fix up the body flaws, do some interior stuff, wheels and type X, and possible a 1j swap down the road, enjoy.

This week have to fix a leak from the thermostat housing, and then maybe, just MAYBE it will finally be driven for more then an hour ^.^ more pics soon just waiting on a camera

For having near 280,000km on it she looks pretty good from this angle! Remember to take your time with fixing the cooling system, so you don't warp your head! I just ran into a 240 guy a couple weeks ago that didn't know that you needed to gasket the thermostat and water pump so he toasted his engine... :picard:

Yeah these iron blocked beasts definitely need a decent cooling system. Looks good, so far PO's carelessness had you in a position most of have been in with in the first month of owning a "new" 240.

Turned out good, running and driving fine. taking it to aircare tomorrow to try my luck :3 No real progress asides from that, put some 94 octane in it and its pulling muuuch better with 20w-50 too . Working on pictures but i found my SLR in peices in a closet so it may be awhile (n)

Why 20W50?

Also, the engine is going to have a harder time to completely burn the fuel mixture with 94 octane than 87 or 89. Your HC might cause you to fail.

Anyways good luck!

I decided to go 20w50 to besafe because when the motor was over heated with the old oil, i could hear some noises i didnt like from the bottom end, most likely the bearings. After the new oil its been putting up to highway pulls and some sliding so it looks like its doing its job. And I did fail aircare, so im getting my 3 months insurance and giving it another shot with some methyl hydrate next time

Try unplugging injector 2 or 3. Always worked for me.

Just don't drive all the way there on 3 cylinders :P

No new pictures as of yet, put some black se wheels on it with a diy garden lip and shes looking a little better. But after a cruise lastnight she decided to start dumping transmission fluid out of the bottom bellhousing, so im gonna take a stab in the dark and replace the rear main seal. If anyone knows if there is a gasket between the block and the bellhousing please let me know, i cant seem to find a p/n anywhere

Just a metal spacer thing. If it's transmission fluid from the housing, it wont be the rear main, it'll be the input shaft seal.

Havent looked at this in sometime now, lots has changed since i got the car. Got laid off, jumped into an apprenticeship and blew a head gasket. Cars been sitting in the garge for the last month or so with the rebuilt head ka, that shortly after decided to decided to seize at the lifters. So now i have a $2000 shell on megan coils thats eating my motivation. Being 18 with next to no tools, experience or money its hard to find a reason to keep going, but i guess ill see what happens. Other then that the cars sitting the same with an adition of a wood grain NRG wheel.

Current plan in the back of my mind is a Redtop swap with basic bolt ons and supporting mods. If anybody has any tips or advice for me please let me know, as this has been my dream for years now and i would love to be able to make it happen haha. Thanks

No pictures yet but picking up my 1uzfe on friday for 450, 290xxx km's :) Getting a swap kit from collins adaptors to run the ka transmission until i have the funds for a z32 transmission. aiming for a sub $3000 swap but if i go over so be it. Gonna aim for summer and see where i end up.

Non build related got t-boned by some dipshits that were turning left in my daily oldsmobile , slight concussion and sore back so some money may come to help in the future (y) will post pics tomorrow

Also i was handed down a pretty full toolbox from my grandpas career as a mechanic so that should help me a good little bit :yesnod
