Hi!! First post!!I just picked up a 1989 240sx a week ago. It ran when it was parked a year ago. It will not start now.I have replaced all the injectors.I have checked for spark and it has real good spark.I pulled the fuel line off the fuel rail and has great pressure when the fuel pump is running. It has fired a couple of times, even ran for about 10 seconds but that is all I can get out of it.

Any ideas??Thanks!!

Well hey and welcome.

I would say first thing I would do is basic tune up stuff like new plugs, wires, and with is sitting so long, you will deffinately want to change the fuel filter and be sure it has new gas in it. Gas will separate and turn to a orangy red color. Try the simple things first and see how it goes.

Thanks.Also, is there a way to check the injectors to see if they are actually opening like they are supposed to??

The easiest way tell is to take a long handled screw driver or similar tool and place the metal end against the injector itself. Put your ear up against the other end and you will a very noticable ticking noise. I would recoment draining the gas, changing the filter and putting in 93 octane and your favorite injector cleaner as well and let the new gas work its way through your system. I bought my car that had been sitting about a year had the same problem. Give it a try. Its the cheapest route and should be done anyway. Let us know what happens

new gas--->run for a while--->change fuel filter

dont want to clog a new fuel filter with that old nasty jelly. We did all of this to my brothers 89 a few weeks ago and it runs great now.

welcome, and good luck!

have you check the ignition key? the switch contacts may not turning the coil power on. or better have a tune up.
