So I took my car on the highway a few months back and after the trip I found I couldn't shift my car into reverse.

By this I mean you can't force it in anyway into gear. Not with the engine on or off, clutch or no clutch; It will not go into gear. The knob just stops and won't budge.

I've asked around alot but can't seem to figure out the problem. I don't think it's the transmission because all the other gears work fine. Could it be shift linkage? Bad shifter bearings?

I have no idea what to look for. Any help would be super.

I too had the same issue today on my 91'. Reverse worked at 4:30 this morning when I backed out and drove the two miles to work. At lunch I went to back out of the parking spot and I couldn't get it to shift into Reverse. It would go from 5th and slide back into 4th. Engine on/off. I rolled the car back and forth and clutch in and out. I drove around a bit and while stopped at red lights I attempted it again and still no go. When I got back to work I shut the car off and shifted through the gates a few times and then was able to force it into Reverse. It now goes into Reverse without any problems. This is transmission was swapped in with a new noisy B&M shifter and redline fluid. I have about 45k on the clutch and transmission with no previous issues. Any ideas? Stuck or Bad linkage? Thanks in advance.marc
