An alignment tool to put in a transmission? I think your talking about using it for the clutch and pressure plate. The transmission can be difficult to put in. Rotate it so the starter hump is pointing down, then once the shaft is in you can rotate it back. It helps to loosen the motor mounts and jack up the front of the engine. I'm sure your hitting the trannie tunnel when you try to put it in and tilting the motor helps a bit.

yep the alignment tool. You try putting in a transmission where the clutch is not lined up properly and I'll show you a guy that'll be under his car for a long time.

if you are talking about mating the transmission back onto the engine, then get 3 people to do it. i tried putting it on by myself and couldnt get it to line up well enough. even 2 people wasnt good enough to get it back in

What i did and the Haynes manuall says is to jack up the engine just a little at a time by putting a block of wood under the oil pan (not directly on the drain plug) and jack up. This tilt the engine which should give you a little more play.

When you get all the transmission bolts started then you can lower the engine down so everything is lined up again.

what i do is1. leave the motor alone2.jack the transmission up with a jack(this is risky, you have to watch the transmission at all times to make sure it doesnt fall)3. have one person up front at the bell houseing guiding it in and have one person at the rear to push on the tail shaft and to push

usually i dont have any problems. sometimes you have totwist the transmission to get it up there. also did you replace the pilot bearing? sometime they give you the wrong one and it will cause the transmission not to go in

but everyone has there own way of doing it

hi ,this is the way i do it ,support floor jack under the cross member and loose the 4 -17 m/m bolts holding the cross member to the chassis and drop the engine and all for about 1 inch,u might have to use screw driver to saperates and leave it there till u done..........
