I have an '89 240sx that I thought needed a new clutch, but now the mechanic says its not the clutch, but the transmission needs a rebuild. Do you guys for the money I am better off buy a transmission or getting this one rebuilt for aroun $1200.

I am in SoCal.

Thanks

if you search hard enough you can find one for about 800.00 dollars... i got mine for that price...look for a place that specializes in manual or import transmissions...that could help the cost alot...as far as junk yard trannyz...we all kno...its HIT OR MISS! the risk is yours... but whatever is in your affordable range is obviously the one to go with...

most reputable junk yards will give you a 90 day free replacement. they dont help with labor, but at least you get another part without haveing to pay again.

how about Pick-A-Part, it is in Willmington near Long Beach. Yeah I think trans go for about $150, but with a 50% off sale which they usually have over holiday weekend you can get it cheap. Good luck
