First, for some reason a search for A/C doesn't work... I suppose it has to do with the / but thought I'd mention it in case it's a bug.
I posted on this before, but wasn't ready to do anything and it kinda went off on a tangent. I thought I'd bring the focus on the technical side. My understanding of the A/C system and the ECU's involvement is that the ECU only interferes in the compressor kicking on if there is special circumstances (full WOT, etc.). I've been told that the ECU's involvement is not necessary for A/C operation. Looking at the electrical schematics I only see two wires connecting to the ECU from the A/C system. Pin # 11 and # 41. 11 being the A/C relay and 41 being the Thermistor.
Now, was the general idea just to connect the thermistor directly to the A/C relay? Has anyone tried this? I didn't see any idle issues... the FICD is part of the relay along with the temp sensor for the A/C system. It would seem to me as long as the A/C relay is turned on at the appropriate time everything should work well. But that's why I'm asking I'm not sure if it'd work. Most importantly I'm not sure if the signal sent from the thermistor would be enough to trigger the A/C relay.
Thanks in advance.
