Hi,

I know nothing about cars... all I know how to do is to change oil and put on a spare tire... you know all the "general" stuff.

I bought this 1989 240SX for $1000. I replaced spark plugs, break pads and such. Now I want to make this car to look good. Get the interior cleaned up, I have that driver seat metal bar thing sticking out, and it's pretty much all stock inside. I want to get a new exhaust system, headers, intake and everything else fixed up Performance-wise. Then finally the exterior, probably a paint job, maybe a body kit, new rims. I have a neighbor who has his own shop, I assume he's a tuner, I always see him with his RX-7, every othe month it's either almost wrecked, then a few months later it looks brand new, and seems to run fine. I want to see if he can fix up my 240SX... I was wondering, for all the stuff that I want, how much would you think I would be spending? Would it be better off to purchase a new car?

Sorry my english is not real good, i've moved to NC from Germany

Intake, exhaust, header, maybe a few other internal mods, huh? I think it would be fine to keep the car you have, the 240sx is a good car, as long asa it runs. It probably isn't going to be cheap though. For the Intake, Exhaust, and Header, your basic bolt-on mods, that'll probably run from around $1,200-$1500. Then a paint job, body kit, new rims, that could go for anywhere from $1,500-$3,000 probably.

if you like to modify and see the differences you've made KEEP IT if you would like to have the best right off the bat or something you don't want to worry about you might want to purchase something you like as is

really you can spend as much as you want...

the prices Ni2s4s0aSnX showed for the performance stuff is about right

as far as the body and wheels and paint and such, really depends on what you can and want to spend, not how much the stuff costs

for example i got a set of wheels for less than $500, some people on here have sets that are worth $3,000...paint can vary the same way
