1989 240sx ka24e manual transmission reverse problems

Hey I have about 246,000 miles on the ka24e. The problem is getting my car into reverse. The actual shifter will not go into reverse gear.

When I do get the car into reverse and I start moving there is this loud scraping noise coming from the bottom of the car in the back. I thought something was scraping against the exhaust piping but I am not too sure.

I was planning on exchanging the transmission fluid to see if it improved. After that I am not sure what else to check.

any help will be greatly apprecciated.

replace the fluid, otherwise I have a feeling your reverse gear is toast. when changing the fluid, check the drain plug and also the fluid for excessive metal bits floating around in there.

if that dont help sound like ur reverse synchro is all jacked up

yeah I will definitely change the fluid. I didnt think about the synchros thanks for the input.
