Anyone know if the clutch damper is a dealer only part? Can't find one at parts stores. I try to stay away from dealers if I can. Parts are way too high.

I can do that. What is it's intended purpose?

its along the hydraulic line from the clutch master cylinder to the clutch slave cylinder.

all it does is impede the flow of fluid to make clutch engagement smoother.

im assuming your replacing it because its leaking. it is not an essential item.

I know NISMO offers a steel-braided clutch line to bypass the clutch damper but are there any other cheaper alternatives to bypassing it?

i dont remember exactly where the damper is located, but if it is located on the steel hard line, here goes-

go to the auto parts store and get some steel brake line with ends. bring your line to match up sizes.

take it home and bend it by hand. connect up, bleed system, and your golden.

steel brake lines are cheap. probably cost you all of $20 to do unless you cant do it yourself and a shop does it.
