My drivetrain shake i recently tracked down to being a severly rotted and worn center bearing, so i ordered a new one, but i have no idea how to remove the old one or install the new one..(chiltons was no use)

If anyone has previously done this process or know what it involves i'd greatly appreciate your advice, Thank you very much

Hmm, i dont have that tool they are reccomending there to remove the nut, it looks to me like its just somthing to hold the flange in place to get that nut off, hopefully i can do it without that, and i'll have to find a pull, i suppose gear pull will work..

But thanks ton

i was researching this myself when I had my driveline problems... thank goodness it wasn't the cause...

a puller can be rented for free(just need to leave a deposit) @ your local autozone. (heck, that's also the place to get it the cheapest! $40 for my local store)

as for that other specialized tool, you will definitely need it since the torque spec for that nut is considerable 181-217 ft-lb maybe u can fab a bar w/ 2 holes in it to hold that still while trying to break/install that lock nut...

as for a press, i guess u can do w/out that & just pound it off w/ a mallet-block of wood???

hmm, maybe NAPA or dealership...

i know that my local community college had these tools available; i helped install a clutch-lsd in a mustang & had to use that same tool for the differential end... so when it's time for me to do this, i give them the parts, copies of the instructions, and a box of donuts or 2 for their learning experience :P

I think napa would be able to installit properly if you give them those instructions.
