The car is a 1989 240sx KA24E 5-speed.

I was driving the car one day and stopped for a while turned off the car and after that it wouldn't turn on.It acts as if the starter were messed up and by that I mean it doesn't crank over at all. My battery is fully charged.

So I started with the starter by taking it out and feeding it 12v straight from the battery to diagnose it and it worked. To be on the safe side I replaced it anyway with another starter I had laying around. No go, it wouldn't start.

So I replaced the battery and still it doesn't start.I have to PUSH start the car if I want it to turn on and that's strange that I can still push start the car.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

EDIT: I found what was the problem after replacing the starter, battery (which Autozone won't let me return fudge!) and replacing fuses.

The clutch pedal has a protruding piece towards the left. There was a hole there where I suppose a grommet would go so that when I depressed the pedal it would hit the clutch relay, like the annoying switch on the door that makes the car jingle if the door is open, once hit the car gets the go ahead to start.

Fix: I simply grabbed a penny -- put it in the middle of some tape and taped that penny to the back side of the clutch pedals bracket for the clutch relay.

So It was that I spent about $80.01 to fix the car and only the $.01 and tape was what I needed.

look up starter in my tutorial link in my signature. you need a multimeter and check to see if you have 12v coming from ignition when key turned. starter has one 12v+ constant and one 12v+ when key turned. check your interlock switch on clutch.

bump because im having the same problem lol

my battery is new, and my friend was learning how to drive stick, and she stalled the car, and for some reason it wouldnt start back up. when i turn the key no crank etc. etc, so we push started it and got it home.

sooo, the engine is fine, and the battery is fine

idk if her stalling the car had anything to do with making the problem happen faster, but **** im kinda glad it happend now as opposed to when im way the hell away from home

anyways, i was guessing its the starter, but my dad thinks it has somthing to do with the connection and all that jazz

the battery has full power (its like a month old), and the windows roll, the headlights turn on, etc.

i know theres somthing called the CSS (clutch saftey switch), which i guess is probably the sdame as the clutch relay? i just didnt know it was on the pedal itself, and not the actual clutch. I guess this makes it a hell of a lot easyer to check for lol

what am i checking for on the back of the pedal? Im guessing a penny sized hump somewhere, that might have just got up and walked away for some reaosn lol

that click is just the switch that

turns the cars brake lights onand lets the car know the brakes are on so you can turn it on, take it out of park, or put it into park, and reverse

i think for an automatic thats called the neutral saftey switch? or park saftey switch... either way

Thanks for the info manasol. You just saved me $150.00 and a day of labor. Two pennies and duct tape works like a charm.
