when i go to 5,000 rpm it feels like my car cuts out or boggs out.other then that the car is doing fine, i changed the fuel pump, changed the valve cover gasket, spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, can any of you think of anything else it could be maybe timing chain?

apparently there are alot of members having a similar problem including myself. my car feels sluggish, once a while it will pull nice and hard but 95% of the time it has the power of a 3 cylinder. now all the injectors are firing but how well?? i dont know. if everything you can think of has been checked and replaced then the injectors would have to be the problem.

you know whats strange, i had the engine running while i was checking the tps and i noticed the rpms changed alot when i moved the harness right infront of the injectors. then i blipped the throttle and the engine almost died. so i messed around the wires moving around and it kept reving up but after a minute it stopped responding to the movement. somethings amiss with the harness. i think the wiring on older nissans is kinda sharty.

if its cutting out like hitting a rev limiter then its the 5th gear pos sensor.

here is what my plugs look like. apparently this means my engine is running like it should but i think tis running a bit rich. i can smell the exhuast and it smells a little raw, maybe the cat is burnt up or clogging.

Well the ka makes now power after 5k, there's your problem lol. Jk

Throw some fuel injector cleaner in there, make sure you're running premium, replace your plugs, wires, distributor cap, fuel filter, and make sure your air filter is clean. Other than that, if it's not fixed, check the fuel pump. Still acting up, then maybe look into the transmission...do you have an auto? maybe the torque converter...

is your car auto, manual? which gear does it cut out in? does it cut out no matter how much throttle you are apply up to 5k, or only when you floor it? etc. There's quite a few ppl who have had this problem (including me - in my case I never figured it out), but if you get more specific, a few ppl did figure out there issues.

check to see if you have a leak in the exhaust. or if it's a stick check your clutch, i had the same problem going up hill. after a while my car just loss power until it died on the side road. open it up and the pivot bolt broke.

when you fix one thing then its another. but hang in there once you fix everything the third time like me you'll learn lol..
