Hi All,

New around here but hoping I could get some pointers on replacing my clutch. Pretty sure it's fired. Car starts up fine and will go into gear easily with the engine off (don't even need to press clutch), but won't go into gear with the engine running (plus car won't start if in gear). :frown:

So all this to say I think I have to replace the darn thing, and have a few questions:

Do I need to completely remove the transmission or can I just pull it out a bit to access and remove/replace the clutch?

Do I need to remove the torsion bars to get the transmission out?

Any pointers?!

Thanks in Advance!

hmmm...have you checked the hydraulics? It would be best to change that too if it hasnt...Master/Slave/HOSE (im not sure if the hose has rubber that tends to be worn out and bubble up when worn out)...or bleed it out...maybe your slave is a goner and its not pushing the clutch fork...Bad clutch would be slipping but this is just the shifting from start ...maybe your slave or master piston seals are so worn out not creating the proper pressure anymore...just a tip...recently had this done to my Accord...hydraulics change and clutch set (2 jobs) done...it works great now like butter

I will verify all of this before I decide to tackle the above job as I think there is a chance you might be right. And it will save me a lot of time! The reason I didn't think it was this is because the pedal action feels smooth, just like it did before. My understanding of the system is that if it was a master/slave issue it could be felt in the pedal? Is that right? It is work mentioning that there is an audible squeak when I press on the pedal so it's not out of the question that it's a hydraulic issue...
