1987 Nissan Pathfinder High Idle

Just picked up a 1987 pathy, and I noticed that it has a really high idle. wondering if this is a normal problem

any quick fixes?

could be a number of things . most common are vaccum leaks, have seen a few stuck on fast idle device. which engine do you have 4 or 6 cyl?

the 6cyl.

i am picking up an FSM sometime soon from my local nissan dealer

would it include how to troubleshoot a vacuum leak?

it will help you trouble shoot your idle problem but I do not believe it out lines how to find a vaccum leak it might in the general section but not sure. usually you can hear a vaccum leak its a hissing sound. but also if you spray carb clean around the intake area if you have a vaccum leak the idle will change when the carb cleaner hits it.
